Reversible Top

After being neglected for 4 months, I finally finished this reversible top for my youngest daughter. I was worried that I wouldn't manage to finish it as I didn't have much time and have lost my desire to continue sewing it.
Well. it's not perfect but I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome. Perhaps it would have been better if I'd used sewing machine.

Please don't ask me how I made this. I totally forget how to make this reversible top but if you are curious, you can follow this link, here, or here

Meet My Melody!

Hi, friends ... I'm back! It's been a busy month for me. For the past 2 weeks, we all were having Lebaran holiday here and I had my in-laws coming to town to spend the holiday with us. It was fun though it made me kind of busy and left me no spare time to do some crafty things as much as I'd like to be. However, before the holiday is really over, I finally managed to spare time to make a felt bag. It was an order from my daughter's best friend about a month ago. She asked me whether or not I could make a My Melody bag for her. Even though I've never made any My Melody bag, I said yes because somehow I always feel challenged to make something new. So, here it is ...

Birthday Party Favor

For the past 2 weeks, I've been so busy between my work and sewing projects preparing birthday party favor for my youngest daughter (or perhaps I should just call it birthday favor since there is no party, just handing out gift bags to her friends at school).

For her birthday now, I didn't give any candies or cookies since it's fasting month and I also wanted to give something they can play with and a bit more durable too.

So, after a quick search on Pinterest,  here's what I came up with.

Small Gifts

Few days ago, my friends and I had a small reunion. The last time we met was when my friend got married about 5 years ago. It's been quite long, hasn't it? Especially for us who still live in the same island. Actually it only takes about 30 minutes driving for us to meet but in traffic conditions today, it could take longer. But it's mostly because since we're being a mom, we no longer have a lot free time and some of us also work at home so we do have trouble to match our schedule.

I was so excited and looked forward to meeting them. So, I prepared small handmade gifts for them and their children. And here they are ...

Another Reversible Wristlet Clutch

I made another reversible wristlet clutch but this time I made some changes. Instead of sewing 2 different wristlet snaps, I just made one and added a swivel clasp hook on it. So, I can unhook it when I reverse the clutch. I also added a padding at the bottom and boxed the bottom corner of the clutch.

Felt MP3 Player cover

My daughter just got her school report and her grades are so good. She's able to maintain her previous scores. I'm so proud of her and good scores deserve good gift. So, since she likes listening to music, I bought her an MP3 player. To complete her gift, I thought I should also make a cover for her MP3 player. I've never made an MP3 player cover before so I tried googling for a tutorial but I couldn't find anything that I wanted. I have no idea what I was going to make, I just kept cutting and as usual, adding some details here and there in the middle of process.

This MP3 player cover is hand sewn and made of felt.

Reversible Wristlet Clutch

After seeing so many cute clutches, I've been dying to make one. So, after so many blogwalking, I finally found this 'sew a simple foldover clutch' tutorial and also a 'How to make an easy clutch'  video tutorial. The instruction they gave are really easy to follow and you can make it in a hour by using a sewing machine. FYI : I still don't have a sewing machine yet.  So, it took a whole day for me to finish it. Hand sewing is very time consuming.

And I did it! I made a clutch and this clutch is reversible. So, if I get bored with one side, I could flip over the clutch. Hey, a woman always needs more than one clutch, right?

So, here's mine ...

Reversible clutch.

Oh, wait. It's not mine anymore. Because after I finished sewing it, my daughter took it. Well, I guess I have to make another one then.

Happy sewing!

Barbie Dress

Since I was into sewing, my final goal is to make clothes especially clothes for my own children. And before I'm ready to buy a sewing machine, I thought it would be best if I learn sewing by hand first before moving to the next step. A few weeks ago when I was blog-walking, I found this Barbie dress tutorial. And I thought to myself, "oh my God, that is what I need. I should try to make those. Those look easy". And then I immediately grab my needle, thread and felt and start making one. After making one felt dress, I got obsessed and wanted to make another one. And for the second time. I try to combine felt and cotton fabric. And here's what they look like.

Little Girl Key Chain

My Little Projects key chain

Yay, I managed to make this little key chain from my own drawing. At first, I made it for myself but after it's done, my youngest daughter begged me to give it to her. She said the doll was her and she wanted to show it to her friends and tell them that it was her. She even tried to smile like it. What a cute!  And now she asked me to make her a doll like the Black Apple doll that I made but with this face. Just be patient, dear! Mommy will make it for you as soon as mommy has a time.
It's always been a great pleasure if our children like things we made, right?

Hand-stitched Hello Kitty key chain

Here is my craft project from last week. It's a Hello Kitty key chain. It's still made of felt, my favorite fabric, and of course, since I still don't have a sewing machine yet, I have to hand-sew this small doll. Its height is about 10 cm, more and less. At first, I thought making a small doll like this would be easy but it turned out to be a bit difficult. It must be done thoroughly and because I never made small project like this, I made few mistakes here and there. Hey, what can I do? I'm just a beginner. :P  I learned the hard way.
However, I'm still happy with it because my daughter still likes it  in spite of the fact that it is not flawless.

My inspiration

I drew this few days ago. It's been a long time since my last drawing. Actually I didn't intend to draw this, it was just pop up in my head. After it's finished, I put it as my twitter profile pic and suddenly my husband asked whether it was our youngest daughter that I drew. I didn't realize it until I looked closely at my daughter's photograph that I just took a day before after I cut her hair short. Here is my daughter's pic.

My beloved daughter.

Do they look alike? I think I see a slight resemblance in them. LOL. Well, she is my inspiration, you know and she will always be.

Updated : Little Poppy

Still remember my Black Apple doll named Poppy? Of course you do. I posted that few hours before this post. Well, now little Poppy got new skirt and shoes. They are handsewn. I did it by myself. And for your information, I've never sewn any skirt before. So that was my first skirt. There's always a first time for anything, right?  I'm very proud of myself because for a beginner, it turns out not really bad at all.

Poppy got a new skirt and red shoes.

Black Apple Doll

I've been curious about making this black apple doll since I found its pattern in marthastewart.com. And I saw many people make one so I said to myself that I should give it a try. I didn't enlarge the pattern though it says "enlarge 150%". I think it's enough for me, it's about 25 cm in height, not too big, not too small either.

By the way, you can call her Little Poppy. :)

Updated : Matryoshka Felt Bag

Since my daughter was a bit not satisfied with the matryoshka's face on her bag, I made a quick fix so it would look like the matryoshka pillow I made.

Do you remember this?
the old one ...

With a little embellishment, now it looks like this.

And my daughter loves the new one. Which one you think is better?

Let's play some music!

Hey, hey ... here's a quick post. I just want to show you my weekend project.  I promised my son that I would make him a pillow too. Since he's no longer a little boy anymore so I thought a felt guitar pillow would be fit for him. Though it's not perfect, (my children said that the stick looked like elephant nose) but I'm glad he still likes it. Thank you, son! So, here's my other little project.

I guess I have to fix my pattern for this guitar.

Kokeshi

I just finished my Monday project. It's a kokeshi but I still can't decide whether it's a doll, pillow or bolster. :P I made it based on my own pattern but turned out there is a slight mistake on the pattern. I'm not quite satisfied with its face. Maybe next time better.

Felt plushies key chain

Just a quick craft that I made for gift exchange activity in my daughter's kindergarten school. The school has the rules that the gift should be under IDR 10000. Well, for under IDR 10000, the option is only pencil, pencil case or key chain. So, instead of just buying random stuff in a gift shop, I made it by myself. I think this felt plushies key chain is also under IDR 10000, right?

Let's Rock 'n Roll!!!

It's Saturday and I have finished my weekend project. Yay! Congratulation to me. It means I can make another weekend project, moreover my new craft supplies are arriving today. What a great timing, isn't it?
Felt Android Doll
on process ...
For this early weekend project, I made a small android doll playing a guitar. It's about 13 cm x 22 cm, made of felt and of course, hand-stitched. Since it's not big, it didn't take a long time for me to finish it. I made this doll for my beloved husband, so he can put it on his office desk and always think about me. I hope that doesn't distract him from his work. LOL.

Well, enough blabbing ... here's the rocker!
I'm gonna rock your weekend, guys!!!!
Have fun and hope you enjoy it.

Happy crafting!!!

"Who is the fairest of them all?"

"Magic mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?"
Guess you all know that line, don't you? Yes, you're right. It's from The 'Snow White" story and by any chance, it's my youngest daughter's favorite Disney princess. She even has a picture of her in Snow White costume. Not to mention, she has watched its movie over and over again.

So, to keep my promise making pillow for each of my children, I made this felt Snow White pillow for my youngest daughter.

Have a nice dream!

Another Hello Kitty. After I finished making the matryoshka pillow doll project, my daughter begged me non-stop to make her a Hello Kitty pillow. And of course, I love to make it and she loves stuffing it. For this pillow, I used the pattern from her Hello Kitty face bag. It's not too big but it fits on her. Its size is about 40 x 30 cm. Since it was my first time using whip stitch, so it's a bit messy at the edge. But at least it turns out to be not so bad.

Felt Matryoshka Pillow Doll

Yay, it's my weekend project! It's a pillow. It's a doll. It's both so I call it "pillow doll". You can call it anything. It's matryoshka pillow doll. For this pillow doll, I used the pattern from my matryoshka bag but I enlarge it a bit to make it a bit wider.Since I have no sewing machine, I hand to sew it by hand so pardon me if it's a bit messy at the edge.

Felt Hello Kitty Face Bag

My daughter loves everything about Hello Kitty but I rarely buy her hello Kitty stuff. So, I had a plan to make her a Hello Kitty face bag. I made it from felt and hand sewed it. To me, sewing felt bag is quite tiring since I always use double felt on each side to make it thicker and stronger to carry lots of things. However I do still enjoy sewing it. The size of this bag is about 40 cm wide and 35 cm tall.

Felt Matryoshka Bag

I finally had time to make this matryoshka bag because the pattern for this bag had been laying around on my desk for months. The good thing about having a  daughter is you can make anything cute for her to wear. So this one, once again, goes to my daughter. She's so happy with it. They both are happy.

Clear CD case Art Project

Since I have tons of old CD cases, I have to find a way to make them useful instead of just tossing them in the trash. This is what I do to give them a second chance to shine.
